Central District Potato Drop
On a cold but clear October morning in 2020, Society of St. Andrew brought together multiple Central District United Methodist churches for a Potato Drop. The event brought approximately 40,000 pounds of potatoes to food relief agencies in Central Indiana, was hosted by Old Bethel UMC and was co-sponsored by Metro Ministries, Acton UMC, Epworth UMC and Calvary UMC in Brownsburg. 35 food agencies and 12 individuals from across Central Indiana picked up potatoes that morning. Volunteers from Metro and the participating churches were on hand to help load potatoes. One of the recipient organizations was Miracles and Blessings UMC, who picked up two pallets (4,000 pounds!). Later that same day in partnership with two other churches in their neighborhood, Miracles and Blessings held a community potato pickup and distributed all 4,000 pounds.
