Pittsboro UMC Preschool Music & Motion
The preschool director at Pittsboro UMC had been wanting to introduce a Music and Movement component into the curriculum. While music had long played a part in the preschool ministry, the director wanted to incorporate more intentional focus on physical and motor skill development concurrently with a wide variety of Christian and secular children’s music. Metro’s Children Matter Most grant cycle provide the opportunity to move forward with incorporating new music, props such as scarves, ribbons, hula hoops and bean bags. She and the entire staff are excited to see the positive outcomes as the children learn new sounds, words, patterns and rhythms through music, and through dance can explore and control their body movements, all the while interacting with one another, improving listening and social skills.
