Patty Fisher joined Metro Ministries as the Executive Director in August 2023. Patty is passionate about serving individuals and communities in need. Patty brings this passion of being the hands and feet of the church along with her knowledge of resources, networking, early childhood education and operational expertise to Metro Ministries.

Patty is a native-born Hoosier.  Her family resided on the east side of Indianapolis. Patty attended Indianapolis Public Schools as a child. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and of course graduated from Indiana University and completed graduate work at Purdue University.  Patty is a licensed teacher in Indiana and holds education credentials from North Carolina. As an educator, early childhood administrator, consultant and mentor, Patty brings over 39 years of experience to Metro Ministries of serving the Central Indiana area children, programs and adults. Patty has worked with organizations such as Second Helpings, Wheeler Mission, Sheltering Wings and others as a partner in training, mentoring and employing participants in these programs. Prior to joining Metro Ministries, Patty has worked in Wisconsin, Illinois, and North Carolina as a consultant for early childhood programs training staff and directors, program and operational development and building facilities from groundbreaking through completion. Patty’s passion for feeding people manifested in her serving on the Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County Board of Directors to developing appropriate food programs in conjunction with Wheeler Mission, leading food drives, volunteering at Food Kitchens and feeding ministries throughout Indiana. This passion and dedication to feeding the homeless, families and children is her mission and love.

Patty’s hobby of cooking and teaching led her to develop a YouTube channel during the pandemic for  children ages 3-6. She taught Bible stories using the UMC curriculum for preschool age children and addressed the scary issues of the pandemic while using her kitchen as the backdrop. Patty and Ed enjoy hiking, metal detecting, fishing, traveling and playing with their dogs. They are both very competitive at card games. Family game night at the Fishers always has food, laughter and passionate competition that can be quite rambunctious.

Patty and her husband Ed have two grown daughters that reside in the Indianapolis area. Ed is an elder in the United Methodist Church and has served congregations in Indiana since 2004. Ed is currently an appointed clergy in Indiana.
