Jana was born and raised a United Methodist. She moved quite often in her first 20 years, which afforded her the chance to experience quite a few different pulpits. What she learned the most was found right there back at home with her grandparents in Mississippi: treat people the way you want to be treated; take care of those that need it; love with a strong heart; and leave things better than you find them.
To that end, Jana always finds herself pulled back to not-for-profit work, quite frequently within the United Methodist Church. She has worked in church nurseries, in church offices, as a substitute church preschool teacher and office worker, and she has spent some time on the board of directors for a church preschool. She spent a year serving the Executive Director and executive staff of United Methodist Church Neighborhood Centers of Memphis, including caring for their Board of Directors. After moving to Indiana, Jana spent time with a local not-for-profit development corporation then moved into private employee benefits. All of these together afforded her many opportunities, including: public speaking, grant writing, managing political contacts, the art of getting a medical claim paid, and managing allotment of funds.
After enjoying the opportunity to be home raising her children for many years, those children are now in high school and both are active in marching band. Jana realized it was time to welcome the season of serving others back into her life. She is currently the Board President for the Beech Grove Band Boosters, in addition to being an active member of the local chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She and her partner, Greg, have a towing business that handles the rest of life’s needs.
