North Salem UMC Food Pantry

The food pantry at North Salem UMC began in 2012, serving three or four families a month on an as-needed basis. As time went on, their service increased and they began seeing more and more customers. In 2018 they began opening twice a month and are currently serving 55 – 65 families each month. In July 2021 alone, they served 51 families. In those families were 10 children ages 0-5 and 33 children ages 6-17. The North Salem UMC Food Pantry is able to serve families in their immediate community in Northwest Hendricks County, as well as in neighboring communities in Boone, Montgomery and Putnam counties. The pantry director and volunteer team work hard to provide families with access to resources to alleviate other needs, including connecting individuals with their local township trustee’s office. The pantry provides an opportunity for volunteers to connect with neighbors and be a part of God’s outstretched hands of grace, while ensuring families have access to food.
