Community Garden
In the entire Southeast Indianapolis neighborhood, there are three full-service grocery stores. That may sound adequate, yet for many residents of the Fletcher Place community and the 46203 zip code, financial and transportation limitations make acquiring fresh vegetables difficult. Fletcher Place Community Center launched a community garden initiative in 2016 and have seen its reach extend each year since. During the 2021 season, the garden provided 4, 859 pounds of fresh produce to 501 customers at no charge. While patrons do sometimes make donations, there is never a financial expectation. Fletcher Place Community Center is honored to be able to offer fresh food to their neighbors in this way.
