Peer Mentoring Program
Ascent 121 offers long term trauma recovery for teen survivors of trafficking. This faith-based non-profit organization has been working with young people in Central Indiana since 2013. They provide a continuum of services to over 100 Indiana teens and children each year. In 2020 Ascent 121 began developing a Peer Mentoring program. The connection that an adult survivor can make with a young person is profound. When a young person sees an adult who is succeeding at daily life, who has a shared experience, it provides hope that they too can thrive in life. Metro Ministries, Inc.’s grant towards the peer mentoring program is being used to develop curriculum and onboarding procedures for mentors and life coaches. While an adult mentor may feel ready to walk alongside a teen counterpart, Ascent 121 wants to ensure that adult survivors are prepared for these journeys without enduring painful recurring trauma themselves.
